Rathpon Engineering was started in the year 1992. by Rathinam Ramasamy, Founder and Chief Executive of the company. He is a proud Alumnus of Guindy Engineering College, Anna University, Chennai. Even though his advanced degree was in IC Engines, his passion and focus towards new invention and development of indigenous machineries that are world class in quality and design are still the motivating force of the company. He is also the key person in spearheading most of these projects from design to execution with able assistance from a group of talented young as well as experienced technicians.
One of the notable and early projects that was executed after setting up the first factory at Guindy Sidco Industrial Estate, was the development of a fully automatic Tapioca peeling machine to meet the needs of the Sago Industry. With meticulous effort and planning this project successfully demonstrated a fully functional automized equipment which is still recognized by many experts in the Sago Industry as one of its kind. This design made use of mechanisms such as uni-directional clutch to translate Pneumatic power to eject the peeled Tapiocas, and Solenoid actuated mechanisms to automate the process was considered unique at that point in time. Rathpon strongly believes in continuous innovation and reinvention which is clearly evident in all the products the company has been manufacturing till date. The Tapioca peeler is a very good example and after several process and design improvements the latest version of this equipment can be found in many parts of Tamil Nadu. Similarly several examples of Rathpon’s contribution to other industries such as Paint, Food, Pharma and Chemical Industries can be cited.
One such proud projects was the Cabinet hang yarn dyeing machine that was developed to process yarn with a lowest possible liquor ratio of 1:9 which is still the country’s best and this cost-effective solution is a benchmark for most competitors till date

Even though, Rathpon has been in existence for two decades providing engineering service and manufacturing solutions to our customers in Food, dairy, Paint, Pharma and Textile industries we feel young in adapting to new developments in technology and to the needs of the market. Our mission is to emerge out as a leader in catering to the manufacturing needs of our valued customers from all business segments and equip them with the latest and greatest technology. Rathpon is actively expanding its manufacturing base with two new subsidiaries in the surroundings of the Chennai city that are in the pipeline.
